Reborn doll sizes explained

Compare mini and newborn-size reborn dolls, understand length and weight, and choose a comfortable fit for holding and clothing.

What size reborn doll should you choose?

Choose by both length and weight. Our current collection ranges from 13-inch minis to 18-inch dolls: approximately 33.0 to 45.7 cm. A smaller doll may be easier to carry, while a heavier doll feels more substantial. Clothing size is only a guide, so compare the individual measurements before buying.

How dolls are measured

Reborn doll listings commonly describe length from the top of the head to the heel. Measurement methods can vary, especially for bent-leg sculpts; do not force the limbs straight. Curled or bent-leg poses can make a doll look smaller than its listed length, so it helps to picture the measurement rather than rely on a photograph alone.

Picturing the sizes

An 18-inch doll is about 46 cm long, a 19-inch doll about 48 cm and a 20-inch doll about 51 cm. The differences look small on paper but are noticeable in your arms.

A simple trick is to find an object of a similar length at home, such as a cushion or a folded towel, and hold it the way you would hold a doll.

Size and weight are not the same thing

Two dolls of the same length can feel very different to hold. Full body silicone gives a substantial, weighted feel, and the total weight depends on the size, the sculpt and how the doll is made. Always compare the weight in kilograms as well as the length.

Choosing a size that is comfortable

If you plan to hold your doll often, think about how a heavier doll will feel after a while. A slightly smaller doll can be easier to carry, dress and pose. If you are building a display, larger dolls can make a lovely centrepiece.

Sizes and clothing

Clothing labelled by age, such as newborn or 0–3 months, can fit very differently depending on the brand and the doll’s proportions. Measure your doll’s length, chest and head if you plan to buy extra outfits, and choose soft, stretchy fabrics that ease on without pulling at fingers or limbs.

Ask for exact measurements

If a precise measurement matters, email support@lolasdolls.com before ordering and we will confirm the details of the doll you are interested in.

Compare two real examples

A 13-inch Mini Sophia is listed at 1.3 kg, while an 18-inch Amelia is listed at 2.5 kg. Both length and weight change the experience of holding and dressing them. Use examples like these to make a shortlist rather than assuming every “newborn” doll is the same size.

Set out a space at home that matches the listed length. Think about where you will keep the doll and whether you will be lifting it regularly. A basket or display space also needs room around the doll; a matching length alone does not guarantee a comfortable fit.

Avoid stretching a doll to check its length

Do not straighten bent limbs by force or pull on feet to reach a measurement. Sculpted poses can make home measurements differ from a listing. If you need a precise fit for a particular outfit or display, ask us to confirm the measurement and how it was taken before ordering.
